چکیده

Bandwidth, power and collision are considered as three important resources in wireless networks. Therefore, how to manage these resources becomes a effect on wireless ad hoc network. These effects are not present in wire line networks, and evaluation of available bandwidth in wireless networks a difficult task. Furthermore, in wireless medium the available resources also vary with the protocol and its central network i.e. ad hoc network. In this thesis, a collision-aware spectrum assignment scheme has been proposed for Bandwidth Optical Networks allocates the available bandwidth and increases energy efficiency in multi hop collection networks compared to the traditionally used random back off. We improve the MAC protocols with details about the bandwidth, power and collision used and their limitations. However, the MAC is utilizing in link layer, the channel is easy to access by the CSMA/CD scheme. All channels to establish the channels’ situation and avoid collision, in the process of the frame duration access the TDMA, i.e. time slots are required in frame duration, and FDMA (Scheduled protocol) access the bandwidth allocation which every node gets a permanent allocation of bandwidth. The aim of this thesis is to initiate multiple channels in medium for FDMA, which constrain the collision of number of channel (N) and utilized bandwidth (W). Therefore, how to increase a MAC protocol to improve the bandwidth efficiency and decrease the energy utilization is necessary. Evaluation of a BIBD Based Directional MAC Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

The use of directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks can significantly improve global performance due to a high spatial channel reuse. Nevertheless, its introduction poses new location dependent problems related to the MAC protocol. In this paper, the Balanced Incomplete Block Design theory has been exploited to develop a new MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks using directional ant...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

An efficient multi-channel MAC protocol for wireless ad hoc networks

IEEE 802.11 MAC is designed for single channel and based on Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA). The throughput of network is limited by the bandwidth of the single channel and the CSMA-based MAC protocol with omnidirectional antennas can cause the serious unfairness or flow starvation. By exploiting the multiple channels and using the directional antennas, nodes lo...

LEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...
